E-Discovery ROI Calculator

How much is manual redaction costing you in eDiscovery?

Every review has a hidden cost. The hours spent redacting, the privilege log entries written by hand, the reviewers pulled from higher-value work. This calculator shows what that costs at your matter volume, and what changes when Confidencial handles the heavy lift. Adjust the sliders to match your typical review size. Numbers are illustrative and based on published industry benchmarks.

How the numbers are built. Industry average ~4 pages per document post-dedup. ~30% of documents in a typical review contain sensitive content requiring redaction. Of those, ~20% require a privilege log entry. Blended labor rate of $4 per document covers both pattern-based PII/PHI redaction ($1–3) and privilege-judgment redaction ($4–8). Privilege log entries at $12 each.

Reviewer throughput. 60 documents per hour for trained redaction reviewers, with two reviewers working 40-hour weeks.

The 50% compression. Auto-redaction at the staging layer handles entity detection. Privilege log entries auto-seeded from the manifest. Attorneys review the flagged residual. Cap leaves room for human judgment on work product, common interest, and novel privilege claims.

Out of scope. Hosting, processing, first-pass relevance review, TAR/CAL model training. Confidencial does not replace your review platform — sits between staging and processing.
